* According to historian Valvasor (1641 - 1693), the castle stood as early as 1231
* The castle was destroyed in 1440 by Cilli warlord Jan Vitovec in a war with Habsburgs
* Castle was abandoned in 1506
*Valvasor wrote that the old Soteska castle was once surrounded by a triple wall and a crown of towers. It had dungeons cut in rock, where they  imprisoned Turks and tortured them. Turks gave the castle a special name - Green Castle
